Day 01 - Airport > Negombo

Ayubowan and welcome to the enchanting island of Sri Lanka! Upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, a friendly representative from Kevon Tours & Travels will be there to warmly greet you. You’ll then embark on a seamless and comfortable journey to the beautiful coastal town of Negombo, ensuring your adventure begins with ease and relaxation.

Visit Negombo Beach

Day 02 - Negombo > Pinnawala

Day 03 - Pinnawala > Dambulla

Visit Dambulla Cave Temple

  • The Dambulla Cave Temple, one of the most impressive and well preserved cave temples in Asia, is located in central Sri Lanka and has been in use for over 22 centuries, exuding benevolence and spirituality.
  • The famous Sigiriya Fortress, adorned with beautiful frescoes, rises like a gigantic cylinder about twelve miles northeast of Dambulla.
  • Due to their historical, archaeological, and artistic significance, both sites were declared World Heritage Sites in 1991.

Day 04 - Dambulla > Sigiriya > Polonnaruwa

Visit Sigiriya Lion Rock

  • Visit the ancient stone fortress of Sigiriya, often called the eighth wonder of the world, showcasing incredible stone techniques, wall art, and the remarkable talent of Sri Lankan aborigines.
  • This world historical monument, located in the Matale District, was created by King Kashyapa to hide from his brother’s attacks.
  • After King Kashyapa’s death, Sigiriya served as a Buddhist monastery until the 14th century.

Visit Pidurangala rock

  • Pidurangala is both geographically and historically connected to the palace city of Sigiriya, part of the area known as “Sigiri Bim.”
  • The region includes settlements, monasteries, tanks, and quarries that are integrated into the sophisticated capital established in the fifth century.
  • Pidurangala served as the main Buddhist monastery near the royal residence in Sigiriya, with Kassapa I reputedly visiting the reclining Buddha there twice daily.
  • Some believe Kassapa I bowed to the Buddha of Pidurangala from the lion’s paws at the base of his palace rock in Sigiriya. End your day with an overnight stay at Dambulla Hotel.

Day 05 - Polonnaruwa > Kandy

  • The Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya, are located about 5.5 km west of Kandy in Sri Lanka’s Central Province and were visited by 1.2 million locals and 400,000 foreign visitors in 2016.
  • Situated near the Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lanka, the gardens are renowned for their extensive orchid collection and include over 4000 species of plants, including spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees.
  • The gardens also house the “National Herbarium of Sri Lanka,” adding to their botanical and scientific significance.

Visit Temple of the Tooth Kandy

Visit Ambuluwawa Tower

  • The 48-meter tall, cone-shaped tower houses the Stupa (Pagoda) of the Buddhist Temple.
  • As you climb up, several viewing platforms offer stunning views, though the staircase gets narrower as you ascend.
  • The spiral staircase can be challenging to climb, especially for those uncomfortable with heights.

Visit Tea Plantation & Tea Factory

  • Since 1867, tea cultivation and manufacturing have thrived in the Nuwara Eliya Agro-climatic region of Sri Lanka.

Day 07 - Nuwara Eliya > Ella

Visit Little Adam’s Peak

  • The hike to the top is fairly easy, making it a leisurely two-hour walk to reach the 1141m high peak.

Ella to Demodara Train Ride

  • Demodara Railway Station is famous for the unique “Demodara Loop,” a spiral railway line that loops around a mountain and goes underneath the station.
  • The design was necessitated by the geographic situation of the nearby mountains, showcasing an engineering marvel from the colonial era.
  • The Demodara Loop is considered the only construction of its kind in the world, highlighting the ingenuity of its design.

Visit Nine arches bridge

  • Experience the breathtaking beauty of Sri Lanka’s tea estates, forests, and villages on the Nanu Oya to Ella train ride, renowned as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world.

Day 08 - Ella > Yala

Visit Yala national park

  • Designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and a national park in 1938, Yala in southeast Sri Lanka hugs the panoramic Indian Ocean and was initially a hunting ground for the elite under British rule.
  • Yala National Park is home to 44 varieties of mammals and 215 bird species, including the world’s largest concentration of leopards, as well as elephants, sloth bears, sambars, jackals, spotted deer, peacocks, and crocodiles.
  • The optimal time to visit Yala is between February and July when the park’s water levels are low, making it easier to spot animals in the open.

Day 09 - Yala > Mirissa

Whale watching in Mirissa

  • Embark on a smooth cruise into the depths of the Indian Ocean from Mirissa, in search of magnificent marine creatures.
  • Mirissa offers prime whale and dolphin watching opportunities between November and April, with sightings of sperm whales, killer whales, Bryde whales, and short-finned whales, as well as playful bottlenose and striped dolphins.
