Day 11 - Ella > Yala

After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Yala and begin your journey to Tangalle. Upon arrival in Tangalle, check in to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. You can relax on the pristine beaches, explore the surrounding areas, or simply unwind at your hotel.

Day 12 - Yala > Mirissa

After breakfast, depart from Yala and travel to Mirissa. The journey covers approximately 35 km and takes around 3 hour by car. Mirissa is a vibrant coastal town known for its beautiful beaches, relaxed atmosphere, and as a top destination for whale and dolphin watching, especially from December to March.

Spend the day exploring Mirissa’s attractions. Relax on the golden sands of Mirissa Beach, visit Coconut Tree Hill for scenic views, or unwind at the secluded Secret Beach. You may also join a whale watching tour to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.

Day 12 Activities

Day 13 - Explore Mirissa

After breakfast, embark on an early morning whale watching tour from Mirissa Harbour. The tours usually start between 6:00 and 7:00 AM and offer the opportunity to see blue whales, sperm whales, humpback whales, and dolphins. The best time for whale watching is from November to April, with the peak being around March and April. Tours typically last 3 to 5 hours, depending on sea conditions and sightings.

Return to Mirissa and spend the afternoon relaxing at Mirissa Beach. The crescent-shaped shoreline, golden sands, and clear waters make it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Beginners can also try surfing here, with surf schools nearby. Later in the day, you can walk to Coconut Tree Hill to enjoy a stunning sunset.

Day 14 - Mirissa > Galle

After breakfast, spend the morning exploring the historic Galle Fort, located a short drive from Unawatuna. Built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later fortified by the Dutch, Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that blends European architecture with South Asian traditions.

Wander through the narrow cobbled streets lined with colonial-era buildings, charming cafes, boutiques, and art galleries. Visit landmarks such as the Galle Lighthouse, the Dutch Reformed Church, and the old ramparts overlooking the Indian Ocean. The fort also houses several museums and offers plenty of opportunities to learn about the region’s colonial past.

Enjoy lunch at one of the many rooftop restaurants within the fort, offering scenic views and a relaxed atmosphere.

Return to Unawatuna and relax by the beach in the afternoon.

Day 15 - Galle > Bentota

After breakfast, depart from Galle and begin your journey to Bentota. The drive covers around 70 km and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

On the way, stop at the Mahamodara Sea Turtle Hatchery. This conservation center is dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles by rescuing injured turtles and safeguarding their eggs. You can learn about different turtle species, observe baby turtles in tanks, and depending on the season, witness hatchlings being released into the ocean.

After the visit, continue the journey to Bentota. Upon arrival, relax by the beach or enjoy water sports and other coastal activities.

Day 15 Activities

Day 16 - Bentota > Colombo Airport

After breakfast, depart from Bentota and head to Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure. The drive covers approximately 65 km and typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.
