Day 03 - Sigiriya Rock & Minneriya National Park
Begin your morning by climbing Sigiriya Rock Fortress, ascending the ancient stairway to reach the summit’s panoramic views over the surrounding plains and water gardens. After descending, enjoy a leisurely lunch before setting out for Minneriya National Park. Day 04 - Sigiriya > Pinnawala
Depart Sigiriya in the morning and travel to Pinnawala, renowned for its elephant orphanage. Day 13 - Explore Mirissa
After breakfast, embark on an early morning whale watching tour from Mirissa Harbour. The tours usually start between 6:00 and 7:00 AM and offer the opportunity to see blue whales, sperm whales, humpback whales, and dolphins. The best time for whale watching is from November to April, with the peak being around March and April. Tours typically last 3 to 5 hours, depending on sea conditions and sightings.
Return to Mirissa and spend the afternoon relaxing at Mirissa Beach. The crescent-shaped shoreline, golden sands, and clear waters make it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Beginners can also try surfing here, with surf schools nearby. Later in the day, you can walk to Coconut Tree Hill to enjoy a stunning sunset.
